Las Brujas olive leaf tea comes from olive trees that are grown on the Contraviesa mountain range, which is part of the Sierra Nevada, in Granada, Andalucia, Spain. This area has some of the cleanest rated air and water in Europe, as well as more than 300 days of sunshine every year. Our olive groves are situated on an ancient Moorish farm, and some of the trees are up to 1500 years old.
We use traditional and organic techniques to farm, cultivate and prepare our olive leaves. We don’t use any kind of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and irrigation is from mineral water that starts off as snow-melt on the highest peak in mainland Spain; Mulhacén.
We harvest the leaves by hand, when they are healthy and at their most potent. We then wash them in spring water before laying them out to dry on dehydrators in the sunshine for a couple of days. As the leaves dry we inspect them carefully and discard any sticks or inferior leaves as part of quality control.
When the leaves are dry but still dark green, they are ready to be ground up for tea. We pack and seal the finished product immediately to preserve the strength and taste of the tea.
